Welcome to Shodo Cafe 7557 in Roppongi, Tokyo! We'd like to everyone enjoy Japanese calligraphy with matcha latte. This is an important and traditional cultural experience in Japan. It is kind of meditation and hope you it relaxes you. One of the essential practices of the samurai at the time of their death was the writing of resignation.When a samurai foresaw his death, he would look back on his life and write down his last words as his last words on earth. ‐Practice There are basic calligraphy techniques such as “tome,” “hane,” and “harai” that you should practice.Each kanji character has its own meaning, so know what meaning the last character you chose has.Learn the stroke order of the kanji. ‐Let's become one with the rhythm of Jpn drums Reflecting on your life up to now, imagine a story of what kind of feelings you would like to entrust to us, and think about and assemble the letter composition (design) of the last letter in this world

日本の誇る芸術文化の書道を体験していただき、2つの作品を製作していただく体験ツアーとなります。 参加者全員に一人一点、当インストラクターが製作した作品を進呈しています。オリジナルでプリントではありません。机上に飾るタイプは写真の通りフレーム付です。大きいタイプは、現物のみとなります。 筆の持ち方、基本の縦の線、横の線、払い、点などを練習していただき、ご自宅に飾ることのできる作品を2つ製作いたします。一つは壁に飾る大きい作品、一つは机やテーブルの上に飾る小さい作品となります。インストラクターは日本教育書道連盟認定の師範・プロの書道家で書道教室の主催者です。書道を体験、作品を製作、プロの作品も入手できる当体験ツアーにぜひご参加ください。開催場所は東銀座駅近辺のレンタル会議室となります。
We were 3 couples wanting to get real experiences about Japan, and I think this would also be great for families. This calligraphy class was superbly designed and delivered and we all felt it had been a 5-Star experience! All materials were provided and the location was easy to find and an excellent environment to try this activity. Our three guides were so friendly and helpful it made a lovely environment in which to experiment and produce our work.

This calligraphy class is located in Kamitori Arcade, near Kumamoto Castle and the Kumamoto Traditional Crafts Museum, in the center of Kumamoto City. A professional licensed instructor with over 15 years of teaching experience will teach you how to use calligraphy tools and how to write with a brush. Enjoy traditional culture like a local in a Japanese-style room that feels like a Japanese home, while looking out at the Japanese garden. It's a valuable experience that can only be had in Japan! Everyone is welcome, regardless of nationality, as well as Japanese people. I can speak Japanese and basic English, but I will use a translator if necessary. Before experiencing calligraphy, we will ask you to change into Japane 【Explanation】 First of all, we will explain about the mental attitude and tools.You will better understand the differences between foreign Caligraphy and Japanese "Shodo". The instructor will explain how to hold the brush and how to use the tools.Please choose your favorite Japanese Kanji character to try in this experience. 【Practice】 Calligraphy has a sense of quietness and beauty. Essentially, it is important to have basic manners, such as sitting upright, keeping your back straight, and holding your brush upright. There are basic techniques such as "tome," "hane," and "harai," which should be practiced. Learn the stroke order of the chosen kanji. Learn by observing the teacher's demonstration with a model.Practice the kanji you have just selected with an awareness of the technique. 【Special】 Teachers have applied kanji to the foreign names of our clients and come up with Japanese-style names written in kanji. 【Seisho】 Participants will be asked to write their chosen kanji characters on a fan and a piece of calligraphy paper, keeping in mind what they have learned so far.
This was a great class. Kaori was a great teacher and we had plenty of time to practice our brush strokes before doing our final product. She also went through some of the history of writing styles. Great experience and would highly recommend this class. Kaori also premade some writings with our names before we got there on a small piece of wood and on paper in 3 different styles.

小会議室にて、インストラクターの指導を受けながら書道の基本技術を体験していただきます。 ご自宅に飾れる作品を1-2点製作して終了となります。 書道体験終了後は、1.2km、300以上のお店やレストランのある大山商店街を散策、昼食。 電車とバスを乗り継いで、赤塚エリアに移動。東京大仏、赤塚不動の滝、赤塚植物園、板橋美術館、赤塚城址、板橋郷土博物館を見学いたします。
This was probably the best workshop we attended during our Japan trip! Very good Calligraphy explanations, the instructor is highly professional, and really takes time to demonstrate in great detail! So the Calligraphy class in itself it was already an amazing experience. However, afterwards you go to see the Tokyo Great Buddha (and museums & gardens) and can experience Japanese culture with interesting conversations and information about the surrounding area. Both instructors are very kind, very passionate and just pleasant people in general :)

This was an amazing experience. In a traditional Japanese house overlooking the Kamo River, Keiko, dressed in a beautiful kimono, taught us how to write kanji. Keiko was very kind and charming. We tried writing kanji using traditional brushes. We wrote our own characters on a board and took them home as a keepsake. It became a great memory.
