Hello. My name is Suiko and I am the owner of a calligraphy studio located in the heart of Kumamoto City, near Kumamoto Castle. I am a certified professional calligraphy instructor and have been teaching for over 15 years. Enjoy a calligraphy lesson like a local in a traditional Japanese room! It's a unique experience that can only be had in Japan. I will translate your name or a word of your choice into Japanese, and then you can write it on a piece of colored paper with a brush to take home. Calligraphy tools are available to rent for free, so you don't need to bring anything with you.I hope that experiencing Japanese culture will become a good memory for you!
This was a fun experience in a friendly atmosphere where I got to create my own calligraphy souvenir. What looks deceptively simple actually is more complicated than you'd think, and it's good to have some time for practicing. There was a little bit of a language barrier so the teaching part was somewhat rudimentary and I mostly just tried things out, but I still had a lot of fun and produced my one-of-a-kind calligraphy! I showed it to a few native speakers and they could read it, so I will now proudly hang it on the wall - success! :-)
It is a valuable experience that can only be had in Japan.
For an additional fee, I can edit your text and create an image file that you can use on your web screen, as a T-shirt design, etc.
Anyone aged 10 and over is welcome to participate, and the whole family can have a great time.
