Our ancestors were shinobi samurai who started to serve Tokugawa Ieyasu (the first shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate) in 1582. The clan served the shogunate for 265 years. In 1868, the clan declined the invitation from the Meiji Government and became independent. We are the only lasting shinobi clan in Japan. We invite you to come to our clan dojo where real master practitioners and professional interpreters take charge of all workshops and seminars. This is good for people who want to get a deeper insight into our ninja and samurai cultures. We still handcraft our tools and weapons. Feel free to ask any questions as we have kept our shinobi samurai tradition for over 450 years. Our ancestors trained locals and their servants to be shinobi.(Ninja is a new word used in movies. Shinobi is the word which was commonly used in the feudal times,) The term "shinobi samurai" is not well-known, but you can be one of the few who knows the history and shinobi philosophy and mindsets. The shinobi samurai trained ninjas and lead ninjas as their mastermind. You will wear a ninja outfit to learn ninja techniques and learn samurai sword techniques and manners in samurai garb.

You will learn our dojo etiquette, how to walk and stand properly using bokken (wooden sword). At the end of the session, you'll throw boshuriken. (our clan's stick-type shuriken) Program 1. Opening ceremony & wearing a samurai attire : 10min 2. Explanation of tools and weapons: 10min 3. How to appreciate and handle a sword : 15min 4. Long sword techniques : 20min 5. Q & A 6. Let's learn a set of movements of our clan's basic sword techniques. Also, you know how to handle a sword and walk and stand properly using a bokken (wooden sword). In the next part, you'll learn to shoot an arrow with a traditional bow. In the final part a thorough explanation of samurai armor． Program 1. Opening Meditation 2. Instructor Demonstration 3. You will start with meditation in ninja outfit and learn 5 entry level techniques with our ninja instructor. Our English interpreter is available in all sessions. We had a great time at this Samurai experience. We learned how to greet like a Samurai, a few attack and defend moves, as well as got to use a katana. The Samurai master was patient and very nice. We took some great photos and videos also. Overall it was a great experience that I would very much recommend.
