Learn the Japanese art of Kyaraben or charaben, a style of elaborately arranged bento boxes with food carved to look like different famous cartoon characters, animals, or other objects. These bento boxes started as a way to get children excited about trying different foods, but it's become an art form in Japan. There are even national contests for this food art! In this online class, I'll help you design your characters and then turn those designs in to a meal. We'll carve fresh, seasonal ingredients into cartoon faces. It can be challenging, but I'll give you tips to make it fun. When your food art is complete, we'll snap photographs to show off your creations to the world.
